Re: Brennus
Several months ago I did this thing at Uriel's behest. As an actor, one of the things I find helpful is to get into my character's head, try and put myself in their shoes and work from their viewpoint. This helped me get into Brennus' thoughts a little bit.
- Spoiler:
- Answer's from the primarch's view
>1) What sort of person are you, and what do you see as your skill set? (If they believe they are something they are not, please make it clear in spoilers)
I am a fair minded and even handed person, and an excellent diplomat. I am also quite adept at planning and organization, and my record of victory shows my tactical skill. (OOC note; Brennus' diplomatic ability is somewhat exaggerated in his mind; mostly backed up by his large numbers of warriors)
>2a) What's the biggest setback you faced during your youth?
My biggest setback was the death of my father when I was quite young. Though I was but 7 summers, I was as tall as a man full grown; my father had been instructing me in the ways of battle when he was cruelly slain by a chief from a rival clan. As I was an adopted son, my claim to the throne was not secure, and the risk was there that I would be cast out.
>2b) How did you react to this setback, and how did you overcome it?
Rather than cower, I called up those warriors loyal to my father -ALL of them- and dressed myself in my father's finest raiment, weapons and armor. Then, I held an enormous feast and invited every clan, a feast both to mourn my father, and to subtly demonstrate my power as king. Rebellious voices were quelled by my show of power and generosity, and my rule was secured.
>3)What are your pastimes/hobbies?
Playing Lathred Bata (a traditional stick and ball game of Alessia), brewing, composing poetry, hunting, and reading.
>4)What do you consider your greatest success?
I consider my greatest success the unification of Alessia, as the foundation for all my other successful conquests.
>6)What do you consider your greatest failure?
PRE-HERESY: My greatest failure is my failing to save the lives of those humans who would not bow to my father's rule, and so were made to bow by force.
POST-HERESY: My greatest failure is my inability to save my father from his waking doom on Terra. My soul would laugh loudly in the grip of the Fomor, could I sell it to rouse him again.
>7)What is your first reaction to being insulted by another?
To smile, and to casually dismiss the insult. Humility disarms many a proud man.
>8)What is your first reaction to being blamed for something you didn't do?
To demand evidence showing I performed this action; or, better yet, present proof that I was not involved. I am a meticulous record keeper.
>9)Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it?
I refuse to allow butchery and murder to take place among civilians, non-combatants, or surrendering enemies. War is harsh, but in this age we must be better than our foes.
>10)In general, how do you treat others? Does your treatment change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how?
I tend to keep others at a distance, though I am unfailingly courteous. If I feel I can trust someone, I will probably display more interest in them, and attempt to build a rapport. Around those people I do not know well, I am guarded with my information; but around a trusted friend, I share my knowledge for the betterment of us both
>11)Who do you respect the most, and why?
I respect my father, The Emperor of Mankind, most of all. His ambition has guided our species to a great renewal, and it is my belief that someday his leadership will truly usher in the return of our golden age as a species.
>12)How do you hope people view you? How do you think they view you?
It is my hope that I am viewed as a benevolent and wise king, and I truly believe most see me this way. (Brennus is right about a lot of worlds he takes, but not all of them by any means)
>13a)Who do you dislike the most, and why?
Among my primarch brothers, I care least for Alexandri, Camaxtli, and the Voidwatcher. The first two treat humans as though they are but meat to be ground, while the latter seems to look on them as stepping stones, or experimental subjects.
b)What about despise?
Pre-Heresy: I cannot think of anything I truly “despise”.
Post-Heresy: The Fomor who corrupted my brothers and brought down my father's great dream.
>14)What 3 words best describe your personality?
Intelligent, quiet, thoughtful
>15a)What 3 words would *others*, who know you well, use to describe you?
Likely anyone would still use “quiet.” But those who know me best would describe me as kind and intelligent as well.
b)What about those who don't know you well?
Withdrawn, arrogant, distant
>16)What is your greatest strength?
My keen mind and my tactical ability.

Can you tell me more Big G? I want to know more about what others see in Brennus based on his description of himself. For example, what would Gaspard Lumey think of Brennus based on this self-report?
